Eklektos is the original greek word for our modern word chosen. We, the elect (i.e. God’s children), have been chosen by God before the foundation of the world. It is not because of our own merit that we have been saved (Ephesians 2.8,9), but so that God might be glorified in this wonderful work of salvation (Ephesians 1.11,12). Seeing God in light of the doctrine of election has radically changed my life. I hope this precious truth pervades your life as well.
